Resident Ballroom Champions to Perform at Knoxville’s Got Talent!

Three-time, Triple Crown American Ballroom Champions, Sam Gordon & Tamsyn Devilliers, will bring ‘Stars’ dazzle home to Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, TN – Nov. 11, 2012 – Go Dance, Knoxville’s premier ballroom dance studio since 1984, today announced the studio’s resident ballroom dance champions, Sam Gordon & Tamsyn Devilliers, will perform in ‘Knoxville’s Got Talent!’ The event is sponsored by the Youth Leadership Academy of Knoxville and will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 3 – 5 p.m. in the Knoxville Center Mall. About Sam Gordon and Tamsyn Devilliers, America Ballroom Dance Champions

Sam Gordon and Tamsyn Devilliers are a nationally renowned, competitive ballroom dance couple. Both dancers bring a combined total of over forty years dance experience with nearly ten years together as a competitive dance partners onto the dance floor. Tremendously talented, ever elegant and sometimes spicy, these award-winning, ballroom dancers were crowned champions three times over in the highly competitive Triple Crown American Ballroom Championship series in 2006, 2007 and 2008. While national champions, both Sam and Tamsyn continue to have deep, local roots in Knoxville. Sam Gordon is the owner of Go Dance Ballroom Studio, a full service studio that provides ballroom dance lessons. Tamsyn Devilliers is a former resident of Knoxville. Currently residing in Marietta, GA, Tamsyn remains an Adjunct Coach at Go Dance and has numerous family members living in Knoxville.

Go Dance Wins Second Consecutive, Top Studio Crown at Third Annual Summer Heat Ballroom Championship

Students and instructors sweep state competition; bring eleven trophies home to Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, TN – June 4, 2012 – Go Dance, Knoxville’s premier ballroom dance studio, today announced that the Studio was awarded Top Studio for its presence at the Third Annual Southern Heat Ballroom Championships (Southern Heat). Students of Go Dance won a total of seven awards, including Top Student in Gold, Silver and Bronze-male divisions and received trophies for Top Showcase, Top Exhibition and Top Newcomer. Ballroom specialists of Go Dance swept the Top Teacher awards in both traveling studio and overall studio divisions. Owner, Sam Gordon, was crowned as Top Teacher along with his fellow Ballroom Specialist, Kisa Abbott, who was awarded the second-place prize.

 

“We are extremely proud of our students for their performances and of the studio as a whole,” said Sam Gordon, Owner of Go Dance. “Having just won Top Studio at the Crown Jewel national competition in May, I believe our consistently strong presence is a testament to the quality training our ballroom specialists provide and the passion our students bring to the dance floor. It is through this hard word and dedication that we are able to represent both Knoxville and East Tennessee well.”

 

Southern Heat is an annual ballroom dance competition hosted by National Dance Clubs (NDC) of Murfreesboro in Murfreesboro, TN. Southern Heat’s mission is to showcase quality dancing, offer a platform for competition, promote that unique brand of dancer camaraderie, provide southern hospitality and, of course, foster passion for dancing. In the competition’s third year, Southern Heat’s theme was “Latin Night” and attracted talented dancers from five studios across Tennessee. Go Dance Crowned as Top Large Studio at Crown Jewel of DanceSport Competition

Students’ first-class performances earned top honors across entire spectrum of ballroom dance

Go Dance is the Top Studio in KnoxvilleKNOXVILLE, TN – May 22, 2012 – Go Dance, Knoxville’s premier ballroom dance studio, today announced that the Studio was awarded “Top Large Studio” for its presence at the Crown Jewel of DanceSport (Crown Jewel) ballroom dance competition. Students of Go Dance were decorated with twenty-one total awards, twelve first-place trophies and brought home $2,050 in scholarships. Sam Gordon and Jeffery Bryant of Go Dance were honored with Top Teacher awards, placing within the top ten of all dance instructors attending the competition.

“We are extremely proud of our students,” said Sam Gordon, owner of Go Dance.  “Each and every one of them performed beautifully under extreme pressure and fierce competition.”

The Crown Jewel is a three-day, National Dance Competition Association (NDCA) sanctioned ballroom dance competition held annually in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Go Dance students’ competed with their ballroom specialists in professional–amateur (pro-am) events across four styles of ballroom dance: American Smooth, International Standard, American Rhythm and International Latin. The Crown Jewel is the third leg in a four-part competition series for the Triple Crown DanceSport Championships series. Go Dance Attracts Crowds; Completes Successful Showing at Women Today 2012

Over Three Hundred Attendees Enter for Grand Prize Drawing; Winner to be Announced

KNOXVILLE, TN – March 19, 2012 – Go Dance, the longest running ballroom dance studio in Knoxville, today announced that the studio participated in one of its best appearances at the Women Today (2012) expo held at the Knoxville Convention Center. Attracting large crowds over the three-day event, the studio received tremendous interest and more than three hundred entries into its grand prize drawing for a dance package, valued over three hundred dollars.

“Ballroom dancing is a partner dance that celebrates women,” said Sam Gordon, owner of Go Dance. “It is a fantastic way for women to feel more empowered, have more fun and become more healthy, all at the same time. Go Dance to Host Third Annual, East Tennessee DanceSport Ballroom Dance Competition

Knoxville’s only dance competition for professional ballroom dancers to compete

Featuring “Danzare:” a ballroom dance performance produced exclusively for ETDS

KNOXVILLE, TN – March 2, 2012 – Go Dance, the longest running ballroom dance studio in Knoxville, today announced that it will host the studio’s third annual, East Tennessee DanceSport Showdown (ETDS), a professionally organized ballroom dance competition. Go Dance will also provide an exclusive performance of “Danzare,” a ballroom dance production inspired by the musical “Nine.” ETDS is an all day event and will take place on Saturday, March 10, 2012.

 ETDS is Knoxville’s only dance competition offering a venue for local and regional, professional dancers to compete. EDTS provides amateur and professional dancers of all ages a platform to showcase their skills in American Smooth and American Rhythm dance styles. The competition will be scored and evaluated by nationally certified ballroom dance judges. Students of ballroom dance, as well as his or her teachers, compete for titles, cash and prizes provided by Go Dance.

 “There has never been a better time to be part of ballroom dancing,” said Sam Gordon, owner of Go Dance. “Our mission at Go Dance is to inspire, excite and energize Knoxvillians to get up, get out and come dance. “Danzare” is an exclusive performance of “Danzare,” a ballroom dance show with Italian flare and inspired by the musical “Nine” by Arthur Kopit and Maury Yeston. The show will star Sam Gordon and Tamsyn Devilliers, Three-time, Triple Crown, American Ballroom Champions and feature Go Dance’s talented ballroom specialists.

Go Dance Steps into New Look

New Logo

Fresh Name, Logo and Tagline Inline with Dance Studio’s Mission to Excite, Inspire and Motivate

 KNOXVILLE, TN – March 1, 2012 – Go Dance, the longest running ballroom dance studio in Knoxville, today officially announced its new name, logo and tagline. Formerly National Dance Clubs, the ballroom dance school will now operate under the name “Go Dance.” The studio also unveiled a new logo with the tagline, “Go Dance, Knoxville.”

“Our passion is dancing,” said Sam Gordon, owner of Go Dance. “From Ballroom to Latin and amateur to professional, we believe Go Dance is Knoxville’s premier ballroom dance studio. Therefore, we wanted our to excite, inspire and motivate Knoxville to get up, get moving and, simply, go dance. With our new name, logo and tagline, the studio’s brand is now aligned with a simple and elegant call-to-action.”

Speaking to the dance studio’s new logo, Gordon commented, “Go Dance’s new logo utilizes clean clines and negative space in order to effectively communicate both the studio’s new name, message and tag line. We selected the colors of green and blue to invoke feelings of action and trust, respectively. The silhouette of the couple embracing mid-dance serves to communicate both the studio’s function and the passion the studio has for both its students and the craft of ballroom dancing.”

National Dance Clubs of Knoxville to Host East Tennessee DanceSport Showdown 2011

2nd Annual event features professional competition and draws dancers from across Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, TN – Feb. 10, 2011 – National Dance Clubs of Knoxville (NDC), the longest running ballroom dance studio in Knoxville, today announced that it will host the East Tennessee DanceSport Showdown 2011. The competition is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 19, 2011.

East Tennessee DanceSport Showdown (ETDS) is Knoxville’s only dance competition offering a venue for local and regional professional dancers to compete. EDTS provides its amateur and professional dancers of all ages a forum to showcase their skills in American Smooth and American Rhythm dance styles, as well as compete for titles, cash and prizes. In addition to heated competition, timeless music, large cash prizes and a festive Mardi Gras theme, the competition will also feature performances from three professional dance couples, including three-time, Triple Crown American Smooth Champions, Sam Gordon and Tamsyn Devilliers.

“We wanted to provide the Knoxville community an opportunity personally experience professional ballroom dance and give a platform for local amateur and professional dancers alike to showcase their skills with family and friends,” said Sam Gordon, owner of NDC of Knoxville. “We received such overwhelming and positive feedback from participants last year that we simply had to make the competition an annual event. We are thrilled to host ETDS again this year.”

“I started dance lessons simply to learn a new skill, and I’m still dancing seven years later,” said Rosalind Holman, a student at National Dance Clubs of Knoxville. “It’s a great way to exercise and have fun at the same time. However, the best part about dancing is my improved confidence. I never would have dreamed that one day I would dance competitively. Yet, here I am. With all the practice and the help of the phenomenal talent of the NDC staff, I believe I can dance and win at ETDS!”
