Dr. Caleb Runne

Founder, Health by Design Chiropractic

“I highly recommend ballroom dancing to my patients¬†and would urge anyone seeking a low impact and highly effective form of exercise to consider it as well. Controlled dancing, as found in ballroom dance, is a great way for patients with chronic pain to increase flexibility and mobility, as well as improve overall balance and posture.

As a chiropractor, I regularly see patients that, despite treatment, continue suffer and live with chronic arthritis, neck and back pain, sciatica, headaches and fibromyalgia. Why is that?  Simply put, many patients continue to suffer because healing is not practiced outside of the examination room.

I use a holistic approach with my patients and believe in providing treatment and strategies for healing the patient, not just the aliment. When combined with proper treatment, total healing can be achieved by shifting out of old habits that cause the problem toward positive choices and actions that allow the healing cycle to complete fully, thus promoting complete health.

What is great about ballroom dancing is that it is a highly enjoyable social activity that provides patients with a built-in, positive feedback platform. By increasing both the enjoyment and frequency of exercise, patients continue to dance and continue to heal. In turn, patients make better, healthier lifestyle choices in other parts of their lives that improve other aspects that, in time, promote healthier living.

At my practice, we all our patients to seek out activities that they enjoy most, so that they continue to do them. With the long list of benefits ballroom dancing has to offer, I cannot think of a better activity for patients to begin in order to ensure good health for years to come.”
